Doctor: who defines the subject's clinical picture, performs the diagnosis and prescribes any drugs, evaluates and analyzes the evolution of the patient's clinical picture, informs the patient's family about his health status;  Psychiatrist or psychologist: who defines the clinical picture, the diagnosis, the therapeutic approaches, administers any psychological reactants, observes the subject during the various situations in which he finds himself, maintains relations with the family members of the same;

 

Rehabilitation therapist: which is necessary if there are patients with physical handicaps;

 

Teacher: who identifies possible educational or professional reintegration goals, reachable through the Pet Therapy, tries to facilitate socialization and learning, maintains relationships with families, to consolidate educational and therapeutic actions;

 

Educationalist: as an expert in training and educational processes, he fully enters the multi-professional team that designs and implements Pet Therapy interventions. The educator proposes, first of all to mediate and facilitate the relationship between man and animal and the environment, as well as to plan socio-educational and socio-rehabilitative projects, therefore, to observe the dynamics of interaction-intervention. The educator, as an expert in learning, interaction and socialization strategies, is personally called upon to structure and verify that each project has its roots in an effective and meaningful relationship, favoring aspects of empathy, active listening and participation, acceptance positive unconditional, authenticity and problem solving. He will have the task of fully exploiting the playful dimension as a privileged interaction tool both between human beings, in this case with children, and in the animal kingdom;

 

Veterinarian: who deals with the prophylaxis of the animal, intervenes in the selection of those suitable for the role of co-therapist, performs control visits on the animal, collaborates in the evaluation phase with the other members of the team;

 

Ethologist: who contributes to the choice of the animal based on an accurate analysis of the attitudinal and behavioral characteristics. Subsequently, he takes care of instructing patients, when possible, their family members and other operators, the behavior of the animals used, the type of intervention they can perform and, above all, how much work they can support. Furthermore, the ethologist provides criteria to evaluate and safeguard the welfare of the animal;

 

Trainer and instructor: who precisely train the animal to interact with the patient and then take care of the relationship that is created in the co-therapist and patient couple. In particular, the training phase is important if the animal is assisting patients with particular physical handicaps;

 

Pet Therapy Operator: favors the establishment of a natural contact between patient and animal, must be predisposed to work with animals, must be able to respect them and work as a team, according to an integrated approach.

 

It should be emphasized that these activities, by us, never become stressful for the animal used.
